Mon Cham – Chiang Mai's Stunning Hilltop Garden at 1,350m

What Is Mon Cham?

About 40 minutes from HATAGO along winding mountain roads (80 minutes from Chiang Mai city center), Mon Cham sits at the far reaches of the Mae Rim district. Perched on a ridge at approximately 1,350 meters above sea level, it's Chiang Mai's premier natural viewpoint.

The terraced fields and flower gardens create a hilltop park atmosphere, but the elevation adds dramatic mountain panoramas stretching to the horizon — paradise for photographers and nature lovers.

Getting There & Parking

Mon Cham is accessible by car or motorbike. The road is paved but winding — experienced drivers only. For motorbikes, 125cc or larger is recommended.

Park at the hilltop parking area, then walk up a steep slope lined with cafés, restaurants, and farm produce stalls to reach the summit.

Flower Fields & Farms

Mon Cham's altitude enables cultivation of temperate flowers and crops. The flower displays change with the seasons, with the cool season (November–February) offering the most variety.

The farm grows highland strawberries and wine grapes — you can buy fresh strawberries directly.

Summit Cafés & Restaurants

Several cafés and restaurants sit at the summit. Coffee or Thai food with 1,350-meter mountain views is an unmatched experience. Strawberry desserts from the on-site farm are popular. Local wine, honey, and produce make excellent souvenirs.
