Where to Buy Butterbear in Chiang Mai — Found It on the 3rd Floor of MAYA

"Butterbear? What is that?"
A guest staying with us asked:
> My 21-year-old daughter asked me to bring one back as a souvenir — where can I buy Butterbear?
Honestly, my first reaction was "What is that?"
At times like this, I hand the question straight to our staff Arly.
What is Butterbear?
Arly and I looked it up together.
Butterbear is the official mascot character of "Butterbear", a confectionery brand from Bangkok, Thailand. It has become explosively popular across Asia — a national bear character, you could say.
In Thailand it is widely known by the nickname "Nong Nuey".
I had no idea. You learn something every day.
In Chiang Mai: the 3rd floor of MAYA
And the important part — where you can actually buy it.
We found it. MAYA, 3rd floor, in the character shop area.
It may not be familiar to visitors from Japan, but it lands very well with younger Thai generations. If you are stuck on what to bring home for a child or a niece, it is worth considering.
At HATAGO
Questions like "where can I buy this?" are always welcome. If we do not know, we look it up together with Arly and Mai. Living in Chiang Mai does not mean we know everything — but we do have the means and the legs to find out.
Just ask us.
